1. Ellen Hoog – Field Hockey
She plays a game that is not really that popular in the United States, but the world certainly took notice of Hoog when she featured in the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. She is only 26 years old, but she is already considered a veteran of the Dutch national team as she has been representing her country for eight years. She was part of the world champion Netherlands team in the 2006 Women’s World Cup of Field Hockey. She took the winning shot in her country’s penalty shootout win over New Zealand in the semifinals of the last Olympics. Men all over the world were hoping she would take her top off like what Brandi Chastain in the Women’s World Cup of Football.

 
2. Alex Morgan – Soccer 
She is the female Athlete of the Year of U.S. Soccer. In 2012 alone, she scored 28 goals and gave out 21 assists. She thus joined the legendary Mia Hamm in the 20-20 club. She scored the winning goal at the death of the semifinals game against Canada. She plays club football for the Seattle Sounders and she has been capped 58 times in the national team, scoring a total of 38 goals for the country. She is only 23 years old so we definitely will be enjoying her for a long time.

3. Michelle Jenneke – Track and Field
Michelle Jenneke is a hurdler from Australia. She is a noted sports lover who lists among her hobbies handball, soccer and Australian Rules football. She is only 19 years, but she has already made her mark in more ways than one. Aside from winning a silver medal in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, she also turned a lot of head with her pre-race dance warm up during her heat in the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships. She is 25 years old, born in South Africa with sports genes swimming inside her body. Her dad is a legend in the sport of rugby. Roxy, however, decided to concentrate on surfing. At the age of 17, advertisers spotted her and she was signed up by Oakley America as a team rider. She has then traveled the world over promoting Oakley products.




 
5. Kaylyn Kyle – Soccer    
She plays soccer for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the W-League and she has capped for the Canadian national team 61 times. She was part of the bronze medal-winning team in the 2012 London Summer Olympics where Canada defeated France in the battle for third place. She was also one of the first people that men wanted to console after Canada’s heartbreaking defeat to the United States in the semifinal game.

 
6. Miesha Tate – Mixed Martial Arts
She is a mixed martial artist with background in wrestling. Back in high school, Tate was known to wrestle with members of the boy’s wrestling team. She got involved in mixed martial arts while studying at Central Washington University. The 26-year-old Tate competes in the bantamweight division in Strikeforce. She is ranked number five in the pound-for-pound list of the best female MMA fighters in the world.

 
7. Victoria Pendleton – Cycling  
Pendleton is a champion cyclist who hails from England. She has nine world crowns, including six in the individual sprints. She is the current world champion in the sprint event. She also has won gold medals in the Olympics, European championships and Commonwealth Games. In the 2012 Summer Olympics held in her native country, she won the gold medal in the keirin discipline and silver medal in the sprint. She is 32 years old and she has already been awarded the Order of the British Empire as both Member and Commander for bringing honor to the nation through her sport.

Filigno is a 22-year-old Canadian soccer player. She is currently studying at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She was part of the Canadian national team that competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Last summer, she joined the team as it bagged a bronze medal in the football competition.
