Hacker Stole $50,000 A Month
Gaming websites were taken offline by a hacker, whilst he diverted the payments to gaming sites straight into his bank account.
A
19 year old “super-hacker” was arrested yesterday after police suspect
he is part of a 6-strong gang that take down websites in order to steal
payments from the customers to the gaming sites.
The hacker was stealing around $50,000 (£30,000) in payments to gaming sites without sites even knowing about it.
He
infected the gaming websites with viruses which in turn infected those
who visited the gaming site. Once infected that person computer came a
part of the ‘Zombie’ attack without them even knowing it. He had
thousands of computers attacking websites by overloading them in order
to shut them down temporarily while he diverted payments into his bank
account.
The youth is reportedly the son of an IT engineer and was
detained at his home in Buenos Aires in July as part of Operation
Zombie, which included five raids in the capital and the city of Rosario
in Santa Fe province.
Police raided the teenager’s Buenos Aires home and seized sophisticated computers and other technological equipment.
Operation
Zombie began in 2012 after a businessman offering web-hosting services
noticed a hacker was remotely breaking into his servers to intercept
money transfers.
