260,000 Swarovski Crystals Were Used In 'Oz' Costumes

Oz: The Great and Powerful finally opens tonight, and not only does it feature a rock star cast (James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz), but it also incorporates costumes designed by Gary Jones (Spiderman 2) and Michael Kutsche (Alice in Wonderland) using Swarovski Elements. Because we can't resist all things sparkly, we got our hands on these exclusive images of the cast in the ensembles. We've also learned that over 260,000 Swarovski crystals were used on the majestic throne in Emerald City and for the witches' outfits and baubles.

"Swarovski’s history of working with costume, jewelry, and set designers on some of Hollywood’s most iconic productions goes back 75 years to when Dorothy tapped her Swarovski-encrusted ruby slippers," said Nadja Swarovski, a member of the executive board, Swarovski Crystal Business. "So it’s thrilling to add sparkle to [director] Sam Raimi’s incredible new film”

Get virtually transported with these images and sketches into the wonderful land of Oz—even if just for a moment—and pre-order your tickets 'cause we predict there will be some full houses tonight.
